Preschool
The Warden School District continues its preschool program for 4 year olds this year. The staff is delighted to be able to serve 26 little ones from our community. Our preschool offers many benefits: It is a place for children to interact with peers and learn valuable life lessons; such as how to share, play with others, take turns, and follow directions. Preschool helps prepare children for kindergarten by exposing them to rich language, literature and basic concepts that children need to be successful in school. The preschool teacher is Cami McLean, an expert in child development and early learning. Classes are provided in two sections each day; Monday through Thursday. There are no more than 15 children in each class. Roxanne Urias assists as the para-educator in the classes.
If you are interested in more information, please feel free to call either Cami McLean or Denise McCaffery at 509-349-2311.

Public Notification - Highly Capable Nominations Warden School District
Warden School District is committed to identifying and providing for the unique educational needs of all of our students, best preparing them for college and career readiness. In an individualized educational program, the needs of all children are provided for according to
their specific abilities, aptitudes, and their levels of performance. Children who have outstanding abilities are capable of exceptional performance, and therefore, should be provided opportunities that meet their needs. The most highly capable students require an
intensified, accelerated, and/or varied curriculum, as well as an opportunity to share interests and experiences with other students with like abilities.
Warden School District is soliciting nominations from the community of students that are believed to have a high capacity to learn quickly, deeply, and/or broadly, so that we can better provide an individualized educational service to each of our students. Students nominated through this process will be considered for services to meet their needs based upon screening and assessment with the permission of their parent/guardian.
Forms to make such nominations can be obtained at the Warden School District website: www.warden.wednet.edu, and in the school
office. Nominations should be returned to the school office.
Note that WAC 392-170-042 requires that public notification must be made available 1) in multiple ways and 2) in all the languages appropriate to the community.
FERPA Notice of Directory Information
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a Federal law, requires that the Warden School District, with certain exceptions, obtain your written consent prior to the disclosure of personally identifiable information from your child's education records. However, the Warden School District may disclose appropriately designated "directory information" without written consent, unless you
have advised the District to the contrary in accordance with District procedures. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow the Warden School District to include this type of information from your child's education records in certain school publications. Examples include:
- A playbill, showing your student's role in a drama production.
- The annual yearbook.
- Honor roll or other recognition lists.
- Graduation programs.
- School website.
- Sports activity sheets, such as for wrestling, showing weight and height of team members.
- Pictures.
Directory information, which is information that is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released, can also be disclosed to outside organizations without a parent's prior written consent. Outside organizations include, but are not limited to, companies that manufacture class rings or publish yearbooks. In addition, two federal laws require local educational agencies (LEAs) receiving assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) to provide military recruiters, upon request, with three directory information categories - names, addresses and telephone listings - unless parents have advised the LEA that they do not want their student's information disclosed without their prior written consent.
If you do not want the Warden School District to disclose directory information from your child's education records without your prior written consent, you must notify the District in writing.

These M & O plans are predicated upon inspections conducted by certified inspectors who determined where asbestos containing materials are located in each building. The district's long range goal is to remove all asbestos from all buildings. In the interim the M & O plans are being followed to ensure a safe environment for our students and employees. Copies of the M & O plans are on file at the Administration Office, 101 W Beck Way, Warden, WA 98857. These M & O plans are available for review and copies can be obtained for a nominal fee.
