The Portrait of a Warden Graduate is part of the district's Strategic Plan, focusing on five key areas: readiness for life, personal responsibility, communication, critical thinking, and embracing diversity. During the rollout, it was decided that more detailed descriptions were needed. Certificated staff brainstormed examples, and the district's MTSS team refined these into common themes and descriptors. This updated Portrait reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of Warden Graduates, starting from preschool.

This drill is a vital part of our efforts to ensure the security and well-being of everyone in our Warden community. Your cooperation and support in these drills are highly appreciated.

A brief statement from WSD Superintendent, Mr. Scott West:
'Dear Warden families,
Our district’s main priority is to support student learning outcomes by fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students and families. We believe that safety and belonging are foundational to carrying out the district’s Vision: Empowering, Preparing, and Motivating each Student for Life-long Success. Schools should be places of growth and community, and we are dedicated to continuing our duty of protecting the well-being of every student who enters Warden School District.
We are aware that the federal government has removed the “protected areas” designation, which previously limited immigration enforcement actions on school grounds. The district’s Strategic Plan commitments remain the same. The district is committed to creating an emotionally and physically safe learning environment and keeping students at the heart of our work. Therefore, a student’s background, condition, and circumstance should not predict their progress and success. We will continue to closely monitor changes at the federal level, if at all. In fact, this week we received guidance from the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, which we intend to follow.
Aligned with RCW 43.10.310, limiting school involvement in immigration enforcement, which ensures that schools remain safe and inclusive spaces for all students, regardless of immigration status. School staff cannot assist or facilitate immigration enforcement unless legally required, such as when presented with a valid judicial warrant. Additionally, these policies restrict the sharing of student information or allowing interviews by immigration authorities without proper legal authorization.
As we carefully review how these federal changes impact our schools, our priority is to protect students’ privacy while complying with federal, state, and local laws. We will communicate openly with our community if new developments occur. Families with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact their child’s school or the district office.
Sincerely,
Scott West, Superintendent
Warden School District'
On December 12, 2024, Warden School District Board of Directors adopted a change to district policy 3420 – Anaphylaxis Prevention and Response. The change will allow the school district to maintain an undesignated supply of epinephrine auto injectors or nasal spray in the event of an anaphylactic medical emergency. Even with the district’s best efforts, staff and parents/guardians need to be aware that it is not possible to achieve a completely allergen-free environment. However, the district will take reasonable precautions to reduce the risk of exposure to allergens for students with a history of anaphylaxis. This change in district policy will ensure that the school nurse or designated trained school personnel have access to the school supply of epinephrine to respond to an anaphylactic emergency, if the student’s supply is not immediately available. The parent/guardian of a student with a life-threatening allergy are still responsible for providing the school with appropriate medication and treatment orders pursuant to RCW 28A.210.320.
A brief message from Superintendent Mr. West regarding the safety drill today:

We want to emphasize that these drills are a vital component of our ongoing preparedness efforts, enabling us to continuously improve our emergency response procedures. We extend our sincere appreciation to our students, staff, and parents for their cooperation and support during these drills, as your active involvement is essential to our overall safety strategy. At Warden School District, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the safety and well-being of every member of our educational community. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we work together to provide a secure and nurturing environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Scott West
